Responsibilities

The Treasurers Office receipts, invests and accounts for all Tittabawassee Township revenues and makes necessary disbursements as required. The treasurer must also collect taxes according to the tax roll and is responsible for distributing the amount due to each taxing unit. The treasurers office while working with the Fiscal Services Department is responsible for the investments of the Township making sure township monies are deposited into the appropriate funds and investments are made with local banks, savings and loan associations, and financial firms in an effort to earn the highest possible rate of return consistent with a high degree of safety.

Property Taxes

The treasurers office collects both a summer and winter tax. In 2003 the state mandated that each unit of government would collect the State Education Tax (SET) on a summer tax bill. The summer tax is billed on July 1st and is due by September 15th each year. The Winter tax is billed on December 1st and due by February 14th. After March 1st, all delinquent real property taxes are paid at the Saginaw County Treasurers Office.  Taxes may be paid daily at the office from 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM. A drop box is located on the northeast side of the building for non-cash payments. Payments may also be mailed in the envelope provided with the tax bill.

Dog Licenses

Dog licenses are available from December 1st to February 28th at the Township Office. The owner must show proof of a current rabies vaccination. After February 28th, dog licenses may be purchased from either the Saginaw County Treasurer’s Office or your local veterinarian.
